My Week in Five

I’m a couple of days late on this one, but still in the game! Lots has been happening – I still owe my blog a proper entry update regarding where I am with my latest TV pilot.

I definitely want to explore the process more in coming posts; I feel like I know so much more than I did even last year, but somehow am learning new things each day.

For now, here’s my week. Lots happened!

B Movie Fabulousness…

Went to my favourite cinema (The Arclight in Hollywood) a couple of times this week. I’m loving this wall of fame they have these days – best of all is figuring out what the great movie posters have in common to see the theme.

Speaking of B Movies, Meg had the brilliant idea of going to the movies at Universal Studios, specifically to attend a live commentary by the guys from Mystery Science Theatre on the movie Starship Troopers. This was absolutely hilarious. Next one is Night of the Living Dead in October and I’m already looking forward to it!

Also had a lot of fun with photography among the crazy lights of Universal Studios CityWalk! More of those photos later…

Lights in a Cartoon Universe

And jumping back to the Arclight, one night there was for the premiere of Frank John Hughes’ new movie the Dark Tourist. I’m still thinking about this movie days later; this is a twisty, very dark and masterful character study of a film.  So impressive. If you get a chance (and aren’t of the faint-hearted audience variety – important) you should definitely check it out.

Also a highlight from that night: We met DEAN NORRIS, aka Hank from Breaking Bad, aka our current TV HERO! He was funny and great in person, humoring our BB theories with a professional knack of revealing nothing and grinning a lot. To go from watching the amazing season premiere Sunday to meeting him on Wednesday… well, it was just amazing.

Speaking of blue chrystals…

First one’s free…

Another highlight was Meg’s birthday! There was a theme, there was a photo booth, there were board games and margaritas! An amazing night all round.

On a completely unrelated topic, my phone decided to be all spooky:

Every time I called anyone, ‘Unknown’ would appear as a call waiting, and when I switched to it or answered it would hang up. I know I’m a grown up person (mostly), but this gave me a satisfactory dose of the heebs.

Last but not least, I bought something which A has agreed is ‘revolutionary’ – Ladies and gentleman, welcome:

Anything not nailed down’s gettin’ spiralized…

The SPIRALIZER! I’d never heard of these contraptions, and now that I have one I’m so blown away. It basically makes veggies into noodles.  I made a raw pad thai using the other day that was insanely delicious – and that feels like the beginning.

On that note, off to make some dinner!
